Empowering exhausted parent carers of children with additional needs
to create a calmer, happier life with more ease
Living Life Too Tired
is the programme I needed five years ago. It is the result of all my training, learning, research and life experience.
There are no quick fixes and change takes time but we can take some short cuts and we can make things easier.
When you are exhausted, overwhelmed and stressed we need to find ways to thrive not just survive.
Whether it's getting yourself back on track to be able to support your children and your family better.
Or you might be waiting for further support.
It may be that your child just doesn't need any more sleep or that you've tried everything and everyone and have no solutions.
You might see the need to give yourself the capacity and time to
make the changes that are needed.
Even if you have started with changes, it takes time… and that's where this programme comes in, living life, empowering you.
Everyone deserves joy, happiness, calm, ease.
From exhausted, stressed, and overwhelmed to calm, in control and able to live your life.

Creating a plan
Hazel is a solo parent and carer to her amazing twin boys, they turned her world upside-down when they came along, nearly ten years ago. To overcome the unexpected struggles that came in the years that followed she began a journey of self discovery, self acceptance and self love. The biggest lesson she has learnt along the way is that if you don't find ways to look after yourself and be the best you can in the circumstances you have, life gets even harder.
Hazel founded Dancing in the Rain four years ago, striving to support parent carers to prioritise their wellbeing. More recently her attention has turned to sleep, or the lack of, Hazel was, and often still is exhausted. Unable to find support for parent carers she set herself a mission learning about sleep and rest, the science, the practices, and complementary therapies. Training has included Mindfulness and Meditation Practitioner, Sleep Consultant Diploma, Understanding Mental Health First Aid, Sleep Talkers (SEND) and Walk Leader training. With her lived experience as an exhausted parent carer, as well as drawing on her previous professional experience and training she is creating community, resources and training to benefit other parent carers.
When she is not sitting behind the computer you are most likely to find her with a cup of coffee and camera in hand, capturing the beauty found in nature and the everyday.
Hazel is passionate about empowering other parent carers to find ways to rest, relax, and rejuvenate themselves. Through sharing her own journey and experience she hopes to inspire, support and guide them from exhausted, stressed, overwhelmed to calm, in control and able to live life.

Why and How
What is your why?
How do we find time?
For making changes to be successful we need to be motivated and to find time to take part, to learn, and to make a real difference for us and our families.
Sleep and Rest
We will be looking at how to improve your sleep quality, the benefits of getting rest and what that looks like to you.
Habits
The theory of making habits, discovering ways that work for you and practical methods to add the habits you need into life and leave old habits behind.
Rejuvenation
Together we figure out what rejuvenates you, what brings you joy and satisfaction. We will look at and try activities including mindfulness and meditation, creativity, hobbies
There will be a four week pause in training sessions while you try out some of the strategies, ideas and activities we have looked at so far.
It is really important that the changes we make work for you and your family and this is your chance to find out.
It's also often a super busy/ overwhelming time of year for us and our children.
Relaxation and Health
What is good health for you? Does anything need further investigation, do you need support to do this?
We will also be looking at exercise and nutrition.
Connection and Community
What does that look like for you? We will work on how can we maintain relationships and make new friendships; as well as holding boundaries.
Practicalities
Putting life systems in place. Methods that make life easier, paperwork, housework, shopping, events, and finances.
Creating a Plan
Congratulations!
You will have started new ways of doing things as we go along.
We will create a plan for moving forward and the longer term.
